Sonic, who drives a red and white sports car known as the Cyclone, has great speed and handling but poor control, and has a speed boost as his Special Ability. Each playable character has different positive and negative attributes, and can utilize a Special Ability at the cost of 2 rings. Players race around a series of tracks in either single races or a Grand Prix consisting of six courses, collecting rings and using power-ups to obtain First Place. It features Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles 'Tails' Prower, Amy Rose, and Doctor Robotnik. Sonic Drift 2 is a fun Mario Kart like game that you can even play with 2 players so if it's not fun already, it'll be fun now. Players who lose must start over, and winning will finish the game. The only story available is Dr Robotnik is holding a contest and whoever can obtain all the Chaos Emeralds in the races can take him on in a 1 on 1 showdown. Many courses are available in this game to race on and feature several iconic environments from the Sonic series such as Ice Cap. Invincibilty, throwing mines, and super speed are just some of those abilities. Each character has a special ability where after collecting 2 rings (3 for Metal Sonic) you can activate said ability by pressing Up. Each character has there own kart excelling in different areas such as Speed and Acceleration and Turning. Characters now include: Sonic, Metal Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Fang/Nack, Amy, and Dr Robotnik.
Sonic Drift 2 follows the prequel where Sonic series characters race against each other in karts much like Mario Kart. Sonic Drift 2 is the sequel to Sonic Drift.
